There’s a place for

YOU

in UCONN CHOIRS!

Welcome to UCONN! Summer is here and at the University of Connecticut, we are excited about the arrival of all incoming UConn students, especially those who are on campus this summer for Orientation. For those of us in UConn Choirs, we are especially looking forward to meeting our incoming freshman singers and any student or community member who hasn’t sung in a UConn Choir before. I am the Director of Choral Studies and on behalf of all UConn choral directors, as well as the UConn Choirs Student Officers, I welcome you to your new adventure. At UConn, there are many opportunities to showcase your talent and interest in singing with a music department that has a long tradition of choral excellence and joy in making music. There is no better way to use your talent, meet new people, and help create something amazing than to sing with a UConn choir. Whether you are a music major with eyes on a to an international career in opera, or a pre-med, Ag., Education, Exercise Science, Engineering, or any other major looking for an escape from the pressures of your core classes, there is a place for you in UConn Choirs. Freshman or grad student, we look forward to meeting you!

-Dr. Jamie Spillane

We will hold Choral Placement Hearings for incoming and returning singers on the Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of the first few days on campus (August 27-August 30). These placement hearings are a low-stress way for us to get to know your voice and decide which choral ensemble would be the best match for you. These hearings will be held in the Music Library Building which can be found at the southern end of campus (across the street from the new Storrs Center). Choral Placement Hearings will be scheduled using a Doodle Poll. Follow this link to schedule a time http://doodle.com/poll/94pz9hny59siqwk7 If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to uconnchoirs@uconn.edu or any of the choir directors listed on the UConn Choirs Webpage. You can also call the Choral Office number below.
