Ching-Hung Chen

DMA Candidate, Cello


Cellist Ching-Hung Chen is not only a soloist but also an accomplished chamber musician. He won the concerto and the chamber music competition in National Taipei University of Education in 2014. In 2015, he was invited to perform Paganini’s Variations on One String during a tour of Italy. As an undergraduate, he attended the Pro Arte CMT Orchestra. Mr. Chen was a substitute member of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, and the Handel Festival Orchestra. Besides classical music, he has also performed in pop concerts including Golden Melody Awards and Andrew Tan’s Concert. Mr. Chen studied with Jessica Chen at NTUE in Taiwan and was in the studio of Marion Feldman in the Graduate Strings Studies Program at NYU. After obtaining a MM, he studied with New York Philharmonic cellist Patrick Jee. He is currently a doctoral candidate at UConn under the guidance of cellist Sophie Shao.
