Aimee Toner is a collaborative flutist and educator based in New Haven, Connecticut. Her musical background includes collegiate studies at the New England Conservatory of Music (MM), the Manhattan School of Music, and Barnard College of Columbia University (BA) in flute, piccolo, and music education. Aimee currently performs frequently throughout the northeast in orchestral and recital spaces.
Toner’s ensemble experience has involved performing as flutist and piccolo player with orchestras including the Norwalk Symphony, the Enigma Chamber Opera Orchestra, the Glens Falls Symphony, the New Amsterdam Opera, the Allentown Symphony, and the Du Bois Symphony, and collaborating in chamber groups that have ranged from jazz trios in Italian restaurants to wind quintets on stage at Carnegie Hall.
Beyond her orchestral and ensemble endeavors, Aimee has performed as a recitalist along the east coast in flute-piano and flute-harp contracted programs since 2018. She is currently the flutist in Duo Brève, a touring harp-flute duo with harpist Mia Venezia that is managed by the Lyric Chamber Music Society of New York. Toner is also honored to represent Wm S. Haynes Co. as a Haynes Young Artist ,and plays on a custom silver Haynes Flute.
As an educator, Aimee serves on the faculty for the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School, the Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras, and as a teaching artist on the roster for Arts for Learning Connecticut. She has additionally taught privately for over 12 years, and has enjoyed working with flutists with ages ranging from 7 years old to 75.
Aimee is a graduate of the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Cynthia Meyers of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for her Master’s in Flute Performance and obtained a concentration in Music in Education. Toner is also a graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University (Phi Beta Kappa), where she majored in Ethnomusicology and Economics. During her undergraduate years, Toner received additional musical studies with Linda Chesis at the Manhattan School of Music through the MSM/Barnard cross-registration program.
