Gabriel Lugo is a tenor, native of the Dominican Republic. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Oakwood University. He studied under Professor Michael Parham, and previously with Dr. Patricia Ramirez-Hacker and Dr. Julie Moore-Foster. His musical journey began after moving to the United States, where he began to seriously explore and develop his voice. This period of growth led him to pursue formal training in music, while also cultivating an interest in graphic design as a complementary creative outlet.

His repertoire spans a wide range of styles, including works by Mozart, Debussy, Kurt Weill, Handel, and Bizet. In addition to classical performance, he is comfortable in jazz, gospel, musical theater, and contemporary commercial music.

The Dominican tenor, known for his passionate solo performances, was selected to be part of the Denyce Graves Foundation Shared Voices program from 2024 to 2026; however, Gabriel is equally experienced in choral settings. In 2023, he participated in the Aspen Music Festival’s Seraphic Fire Professional Choral Institute. During his time at Oakwood, he was a member of the internationally recognized Aeolians of Oakwood University, where he performed as a featured soloist, served as tenor section leader, and held the role of social media manager. In this leadership position, Gabriel developed and executed digital media strategies that significantly expanded the ensemble’s online presence.

When Gabriel is not surrounded by music, he loves to do photography, play basketball, or simply go for a walk to enjoy nature. 

At the moment, Gabriel is pursuing his Master in Voice Performance at the University of Connecticut (UCONN).
