Festival Information

High School Choral Festival - Saturday, March 9th, 2019, von der Mehden Recital Hall

Middle School Festival - Friday, April 5th, 2019, von der Mehden Recital Hall

UConn Choral Festival Faculty

Dr. Jamie Spillane, Director of Choral Studies
Dr. Cara Bernard, Assistant Clinical Professor of Music Education
Dr. Mary Ellen Junda, Professor of Music
As an alternative to an atmosphere of competition, the UConn Choral Festivals will foster a supportive atmosphere that works for the benefit of all participating choirs and their directors. Our clinicians will provide written comments to directors as each choir performs and will then work with the director and the ensemble. This will assure that all benefit from a productive day of music making. Each choir will perform in front of an audience of students, teachers, and the clinicians for 10 to 15 minutes and receive a 20-minute clinic following the performance.
The time at which each choir participates in the day is up to the director. We will try our best to schedule your ensemble either in the morning or afternoon, depending on your preference. You will be able to observe multiple clinics given by faculty and students from the UConn Music Department.
