Festival Information

Middle School Festival - Friday, April 17, 2020, von der Mehden Recital Hall

High School Choral Festival - Saturday, April 18, 2020, von der Mehden Recital Hall

UConn Choral Festival Faculty

Dr. Jamie Spillane, Director of Choral Studies
Dr. Cara Bernard, Assistant Clinical Professor of Music Education
Dr. Mary Ellen Junda, Professor of Music

As an alternative to an atmosphere of competition, the UConn Choral Festivals will foster a supportive atmosphere that works for the benefit of all participating choirs and their directors. Our clinicians will provide written comments to directors as each choir performs and will then work with the director and the ensemble. This will assure that all benefit from a productive day of music making. Each choir will perform in front of an audience of students, teachers, and the clinicians for 10 to 15 minutes and receive a 20-minute clinic following the performance.

The time of day at which each choir participates is up to the director. We will try our best to schedule your ensemble either in the morning or afternoon, depending on your preference. You and your students will be able to observe multiple performances by participating choirs and clinics given by faculty as well as performances by UConn Choirs.
