Michaella Cipriani

MM Candidate, Voice


Michaella Cipriani is a soprano originally from Westerville, Ohio. Her recent roles include Voice of Galatea in un/becoming, a new adaptation of Ovid’s Pygmalion featuring the works of living female composers (Non:OP, Chicago), Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in The Gonzales Cantata,Nora in Riders to the Sea, and La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi (all at Northwestern University)

In addition to singing, she is an avid dramaturg and director. While an undergrad, she wrote and directed a new English adaptation of The Magic Flute, and she co-wrote and co-directed a new opera based on children’s campfire stories called How to Tell a Scary Story.

She is a first-year MM student at University of Connecticut, where she teaches undergraduate Opera Studio and studies voice with Constance Rock. She holds a BM in Voice and a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University.
